Background info:
The NEiD-project
The NEiD (New European Identity)–project i is a collaboration between four European schools of art and design. The participants are Helsinki University of Art and Design, Design Academy Eindhoven, and Iceland Academy of the Arts. The aim and purpose of NEiD, was for students of fashion, textile and jewelry design to research their European heritage and folklore in order to find new ways of interpreting the European identity.
The theme for NEiD 2008 was Rites of Passage: birth, wedding and death. Each student made their personal research on one of these topics both in their home country as well as in one of the other four countries. The students worked individually on their personal projects in order to create new designs. This has resulted in new design that reflects a New European Identity.
We continue the results of the workshop to the digital environment building up our own story and visual images.
